3 May 2018, Bothaville, Free State: Four people were beheaded in what is described as a horrific accident when a light motor vehicle collided with a bus on the R30 road just outside Bothaville in the Free State.
Capt. Police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng said the driver of a silver-coloured Toyota Corolla, with four passengers, lost control of the vehicle outside Bothaville and collided head-on with a bus.
The driver and 4 occupants of the vehicle, with a NW number plate, have been ejected.
When emergency services arrived on the scene they found body parts, injured and wreckage scattered throughout the area.
Thakeng said the four passengers of the Toyota died on impact. The driver of the vehicle has sustained multiple serious injuries and was rushed to the nearest hospital for further treatment.
The bus driver and his occupants were not injured in the accident. According to Thakeng, the police are investigating a charge of culpable homicide.
